Setting and Achieving Goals and Moving Beyond Limiting Beliefs

This year has involved a lot of goal setting for me.  I have set some really high goals and some that are more attainable but that I have always found an excuse for not completing them.  An example of one of these is that I have always wanted to run a marathon.  I have imposed limiting beliefs on myself that I am not a long distance runner and I just don’t enjoy running.  This made me want to do it more  to prove to myself that I could but I would just make one excuse after another – too busy with the kids, no time with work, life and basically anything I could think of.  However, with the help of a strong female friend that really encouraged me to take the leap, I signed up for my first marathon.  We are part of a training group, which forces me to go every Saturday morning and I have kept up with the additional three runs a week.  Someone told me that the marathon isn’t the hard part but rather the training it requires.  In my case, they are absolutely right.  Though with each week that passes (I am starting my fourth week of training), it has gotten just a little bit easier.  I also have noticed that although I am not fast, I am enjoying being out there and running.  So I hope to continue my path of ridding any limits I have placed on myself and continue moving forward.
