People who know me know that I cannot stay still. I love to explore, whether it be alone or with my family, I just truly love to take in new experiences. I am not usually afraid of trying new foods and am not generally intimidated by language barriers. This past week I had the good fortune of spending my kids spring break at Machu Picchu. First of all it is important to note that learning about Machu Picchu or seeing it in pictures does not give it justice. There is no doubt as to why it is considered one of the modern wonders of the world. There is also a spiritual aspect to the experience that is like no other.
Although it is not the easiest destination to get to – four planes, two trains and several bus rides later…my family did not complain. I learned to give my kids a little more credit and know that I can take them anywhere. Not only has it been a great learning experience and forced them to practice their Spanish but introduced them to different walks of life. I hope for them to understand that the world is much bigger than what they see in their day to day.
Now that we have returned home, I start to look for the next adventure.
