Every day when I pick up my kids from school the first question I ask them is “What did you do today to make the world better?” I ask this before finding out what they learned, who they ate lunch with, or how they may have done on a test. They understand that their answer can be as simple as holding a door, picking up a piece of paper from the floor, defending a friend from a bully, or one day when my son came up with an idea on how to provide solar light to people in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Irma devastated the island, using a simple solar cell and household items. It wasn’t until recently that I really asked, why am I not asking myself this question every day? So today I hope to live with a bit more awareness and intention. To create ripples into this world, where every time you offer a simple smile, kind word, thoughtful insight or generous action this might have a positive and far-reaching effect. So what did you do today?
